The Ministry of Walking began as a Calgary-based collective of individuals who value the experience of walking as a vital and integrated part of their everyday life, their work, and/or their artistic practice. The Ministry engages in collaborative outreach projects to engage others in the act of walking.

A friend of mine called me just recently "the eternal wanderer"...
She called me that after she saw some of my recent paintings of cityscapes, all in black and white. I lived close to Montreal, the city where beauty of nostaglia comes from the old buildings. I guess my paintings come from that 'cause the buildings got so much history out of them. My friend called me by that nickname 'cause I always walked almost everywhere every day, from Mile-End to Westmount 'til I ended up in the Old Port, which most of the old-fashioned buildings had come up in my paintings. Not only does they fascinated me, but also the people surround me, who are open and friendly. A few tend to have little unexpected chats to me, as if they know me well. It was quite surprised yet very pleased to even happened in the moment.
In my opinion, walking does give a sense of relaxation, to be more open into new paths of discovered freedom. Not only the legs and feet, but the heart and mind as well, to decide where to go and what are your desinations. The use of walking also help the flowing mind of not only creativity, but for general meanings of understanding life.
If I want to understand life just by walking, then I will walk forever until the passing of my time.
